Doctor

  • Dr. Ann Allen B Salter


        A lifetime resident of Montgomery, Dr. Salter is married to Rusty Salter who works for American Klassic Designs.  They have two active boys who enjoy baseball, fishing, golf and watching any sport with their daddy.
    Dr. Salter enjoyes the active role of supporting the team sports of her boys and when time permits "between seasons" she enjoys playing golf with the family.  She is active in the Women's ministry of Vaughn Forest Baptist Church where she enjoys teaching discipleship classes.  Nonsport hobbies include reading and writing "pet parables".
    Dr. Salter has three pets,  Brother, Hank, and Sam,  a stubborn Dachshund, a rescued mutt, and a sweet kitty.  Rusty will not allow any more pets; otherwise there would be many more!
    Dr. Salter has a special interest in oncology with an emphasis on extending quality and quantity of life through chemotherapy and other modalities.  She often participates in Auburn's College of Veterinary Medicine's oncology rounds.  Dermatology, ophthalmology, and internal medicine are also favorite areas of practice.
    Having been a part of this practice (formerly Chambers Animal Clinic) since 1971 (at the age of 14), Dr. Salter fell in love with companion animal care and is blessed to feel the same each day as she comes to work.  She considers herself privileged and honored to be a part of so many families through the care of their pets from the pediatric to the geriatric stage.  With an emphasis on excellence of medical care coupled with compassion and client education Dr. Salter continues to love the practice in which she literally grew up.
    Dr. Salter is a member of the Central Alabama Veterinary Medical Association, the Alabama Veterinary Medical Association, the American Veterinary Medical Association, the American Animal Hospital Association as well as the American Association of Feline Practitioners.   • Bill Van Hooser


        Dr. Van Hooser is a graduate of Auburn University's College of Veterinary Medicine.  He has a lovely wife, Joy, who enjoys walking their dog "Buddy".  They have three boys, William, Wilson and Walker, all budding basketball players.  Deep sea fishing, biking, golf and Auburn sports are his personal hobbies but he spends most time chasing his boys and pets.

    Dr. Van Hooser has four dogs, Buddy, Elizabeth, Kitty, and Dann, and two cats, Shaq and Puppy.

    In practice, Dr. Van Hooser most enjoys orthopedics and neurosurgery.  He also enjoys challenging internal medicine cases.

    Dr. Van Hooser can be seen on WSFA Channel 12 "The Pet Vet" every Monday at 6:45 a.m.  He has been on this program for over 4 years.  He serves on the board of the Montgomery Humane Society, The Boys and Girls Clubs of Montgomery and is an active member of Trinity Presbyterian Church. He is also a member of the Alabama Veterinary Medical Association, the American Veterinary Medical Association and the American Animal Hospital Association.   • Dr. Scott Griffin


        Dr. Griffin and his wife Janice have two beautiful daughters, Rebecca and Jessica.  He is a member and officer at Young Meadows Presbyterian Church, serves on the board of Sav-A-Life, is a sponsor and leader for the Boy Scouts Explorer program and is an officer of the Central Alabama Veterinary Medical Association.  Dr. Griffin enjoys cycling, saltwater fishing and reading.  The Griffins have a shih-tzu named Henry and a cat named  Tinkerbell.  Dr. Griffin most enjoys surgery and being a part of the relationship between pets and their owners.   • Dr. Nancy J Kersey


        Originally from Canada, Nancy J. Kersey moved to Alabama to attend Auburn University's College of Veterinary Medicine.  While she continues to visit Canada as much as possible to see her parents, sister, brother, niece and nephew, she has found the south to be her second home.  Dr. Kersey is married to Stephen Weldon, has a handsome stepson, Halen a beautiful daughter, Emily "Emmy" Morgan, and an adorable son, Jackson "Jack" Augustus.   In her spare time (ha!), Dr. Kersey enjoys traveling, biking, cooking and reading.  Dr. Kersey loves all aspects of Small Animal Medicine and treats dogs, cats, birds and exotic animals.   • Dr. William R Brawner , III


        Dr. William R. "Blue" Brawner graduated with highest honors from Auburn University's College of Veterinary Medicine in 2001 and completed an internship at Indian Springs Animal Clinic in Birmingham.  Originally from Auburn, Dr. Brawner is now proud to call Montgomery his home.
    He is a member of the Central Alabama Veterinary Medical Association, Alabama Veterinary Medical Association, American Animal Hospital Association, American Veterinary Medical Association and the American Veterinary Dental Society.
    Dr. Brawner and his wife Meredith are active members of Frazer Memorial United Methodist Church.  Their first child, Will, was born on August 27, 2005.  They have a Chinese Pug named Sherman, a golden retriever named Ellee and two cats, Bruno and Gus.  Blue and Meredith enjoy boating and waterskiing with friends on Lake Jordan in the summertime.  They feel fortunate that both of their families live close by and enjoy frequent visits with them.  Blue and Meredith also enjoy traveling, when time allows.  Dr. Brawner can be contacted at wrbdvm@mindspring.com.

    Tonya has been a member of our client care team since September 2006.  She is currently our client care manager and our pharmacy manager.  She briefly attended college before meeting and marrying her husband, Joel.  She has 2 step-daughters and a baby on the way.  When she is not at work, Tonya can be found loving on her own pets.  She has 2 boxers, Stryker Lamar & Ranger Danger and 2 cats Pepperboots & Buttercup.

  • Mary Tefend Campbell , CVT, VTS, CECC


    Mary has been a member of our nursing team since June 2008.  She has been a veterinary technician for 20+ years, and has worked in both academic and private practice.  Mary is currently our nursing manager.  She has several years of experience in emergency medicine, and is helping us provide the best possible critical care to our patients.  Mary is married with 4 cats and 1 very goofy great dane.


Technician

  • Danielle Crowe


         Danielle has been with Carriage Hills since August 2000. She grew up in Orlando, FL, in a house full of animals and siblings. After moving to Montgomery in January 1997, Danielle received her bachelor's degree in Biology, with an emphasis in enviornmental and marine sciences. She has worked at Sea World in Orlando and volunteered at The Montgomery Zoo. Danielle works hard on our nursing staff assisting Dr. Kersey as well as maintaining our computer system.  When she is not busy at Carriage Hills she enjoys spending time with her babies.  She has 3 dogs, 2 cats, 1 rabbit, and 1 bird.

  • Alyson Yarema , CVT


    Alyson has been a member of our staff since September 2002.  She has been working hard as our surgery nurse, anesthetizing, monitoring, and recovering patients, since December 2005.  When she is not at work, Alyson enjoys spending her free time with her husband and her 2 boxers, Mya & Lily,  her vizsla, Barney.  She also has 1 turtle and several fish.  Alyson is currently enrolled at AUM working on her Bachelor's degree in marketing.

  • Melanie Reed


    Melanie has been a member of our nursing team since 1999.  She received her Bachelor's degree in animal science from Auburn University, her Associate of Science degree in veterinary technology from St. Petersburg College, and her medical sonography degree from the Baptist School of Ultrasound.  Melanie is a certified veterinary technician and a registered diagnostic medical sonographer.  She was a zoo vet tech for several years at Montgomery Zoo, and is currently working as an ultrasound technician at Baptist Hospital.  When Melanie is not working here or at the hospital, she can be found spending quality time on The Last Stop Ranch with her husband and their 6 dogs, 5 cats, 2 horses, 7 goats, 3 rabbits, and 2 conures.

  • Nick Ford


    Nick has been a smiling and hardworking member of our staff since September 2006.  When not at work, he enjoys spending time with Rosebud, his Redbone Coonhound.   

  • Janet Ingram


    Janet started at Carriage Hills in October 2005.  She has been working hard as our Critical Care Ward (CCW) Manager for 3 months.  She enjoys working with her fellow nurses to help heal the many patients who come through our CCW.  Janet is currently enrolled in Jefferson State Community College's Veterinary Technology Program.  When not at work or school, Janet can be found at home caring for her family.  Her husband, Craig, and 2 daughters, Shelby & Destiny, are often found assisting her in the care of their many pets.  She enjoys protection training with her 2 dogs, as well as spending time with her 2 birds and 2 rabbits.  Janet also assists Danielle in wildlife rehabilitation and education in and outside of the clinic.

    India has been a member of our nursing team since September 2007.  She works hard in our Critical Care Ward (CCW) where she assists in patient care.  When not working in CCW, India can be found answering questions and filling prescriptions for our clients.  India has 1 baby, Kash, a 2 year old yorkshire terrier.


  • Kimberly Lewis


    Kim has been a member of our nursing team since January 2008.  She can be found assisting Dr. Griffin with patient and client care.  Kim has several pets at home on her parent's farm.  She is currently working on her Associates of Science in Veterinary Technology at Jefferson State Community College.  She is planning to become a licensed veterinary technician upon graduation.

    Kristen has been a member of our nursing team since October 2007.  She can be found assisting in surgery and patient recovery.  She received her Bachelor's degree from Troy State University, and is hoping to begin veterinary school next year.  Kristen enjoys loving and caring for her own 2 babies, Giza and Isis.

    Kathy has been a member of our nursing team since August 2008.  She can be found assisting Dr. Brawner with patient and client care.  She has a Bachelor's degree in Science with an emphasis on Biology.  She was born and raised in Anchorage, Alaska.  She is married to an Air Force pilot, and most recently lived in Las Vegas, NV.  When she is not at work, Kathy loves to cook, camp, fish, hike, and hunt.  She also enjoys spending time with her dog, Duke, and cat, Hugo. 


  • David Mendicino


    David has been a member of our nursing staff since September 2008.  He can be found assisting in surgeries some afternoons and caring for patients in our critical care ward in the evenings on the weekends.  David is currently working towards his Bachelor's degree in marketing at AUM. 


  • Audrey Crippen


    Audrey has been a member of our nursing staff since August 2008.  She spends her weekend evenings and nights caring for patients in our critical care ward.  Audrey received her Bachelor's degree in psychology from University of Montevallo.  When she is not working, Audrey enjoys spending her free time with her husband and son.

  • Steven A Saliba


    Steven has been a smiling face in our clinic since January 2005.  He has worked as a multi-faceted member of our team, and is currently providing his smile and expertise to our client care team.  When he is not at work, Steven enjoys spending time with his pitbull/ boxer mix, Lefty (Left Foot Forward).  He is interested in physical therapy, and hopes to one day be a human physical therapist.

    Bethany has been a member of our client care team since December 2007.  Her great smile and bubbly personality make her a wonderful asset whether she's answer the phone or talking wiht clients in person.  She is currently working toward her Bachelor's degree at AUM.  When she is not at work or in class, Bethany enjoys spending time with her cat, Ami.

    Anna has been a member of our client care team since September 2008.  She does a great job making clients feel welcome.  When she is not working, Anna enjoys spending time with her husband, son, dog, and rabbit.


Kennel

  • Tonya Generally


    Tonya has been spoiling boarding pets in our resort since June 2003.  She is from Alton, Illinois, where she grew up as a country girl on ten acres.  Tonya has had many pets in her life.  Tonya currently has 1 dog , Titan, a 17 year old cocker spaniel adopted from Montgomery Humane Society.  She has always loved animals and has attended Tuskegee University, where she majored in Pre-Vet animal science.

  • Jessica Grant


    Jessica has been a member of our resort team since February 2007.  She enjoys spending quality time with both the clients and their pets.  She also enjoys photography, and regularly helps update pictures around the clinic.  When she is not at work, Jessica enjoys spending time with her 2 dogs and 4 cats.


  • Etosha Pelt


    Etosha has been a member of our resort staff since February 2008.  She received her Bachelor's degree in Animal Science in 2007, and plans to go to veterinary school.  When Etosha is not working hard loving on our resort visitors, she can be found loving & playing with her own 3 pups.


  • Amanda Rambo


    Amanda has been a member of our resort team since June 2008.  She loves caring for and playing with all the babies who visit us while their parents are away.  When she is not loving on pets here, Amanda is loving on her own 3 pets.


  • Melissa Bruner


    Melissa has been a member of our resort team since June 2008.  She can be found lovingly caring for our resort visitors.  Melissa has 7 cats and 1 dog at home.


  • Janice Hubert


    Janice has been a member of our resort team since July 2007.  She does a wonderful job ensuring that every visit is a great visit for every pet that comes to stay with us.  She has received both her Associate's and Bachelor's degrees in science.  When she is not providing excellent care for our resort visitors, Janice is enjoying time with Phebe, her chihuahua mix.


  • Justin Robertson


    Justin has been a member of our resort team since March 2008.  He feels the best part of his job is meeting new pets and their human families.  He takes at least a few moments out of every workday to love on the resort visitors.  Justin is working on his Bachelor's degree in pre-veterinary studies at Auburn.  He is also studying computer programming and grooming.  At home, he has 2 dogs and 7 cats, and he spends time with each one every day.  When he is not at work or in school, Justin spends his free time rock climbing, plaing piano, singing, or skydiving.

  • Kim McDonald


    Kim has been at Carriage Hills since 2002.  She has been grooming for us since 2005.  She has a total of 8 years experience in grooming, and attends a continuing education conference yearly in Atlanta.  When she is not grooming, Kim enjoys time with her husband and their daughter, Haley.  She also loves spending time with her 2 dogs, Blue & Xena.

  • Desiree Crowe


    Desiree has been with Carriage Hills since 1999.  She is a Florida native where she grew up with 3 sisters and a house full of pets.  Desiree has been grooming for us since July 2006.  She attends a yearly continuing education conference in Atlanta.  When she is not grooming, Desiree enjoys spending quality time with her husband and 2 sons, Tucker & Shamus.  She also enjoys her own pets, 2 dogs , Beans & Caine, and 1 cat, Callie.
